But are you allowed to change career paths at 38 years of age? Isn’t it too late to change your mind? How do you even know if you have talent for something else?
In the spring of 2022, I decided it wasn’t too late. So in late August 2022 I began the bachelor’s program in interaction design at Mälardalen University which turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. Interaction design / UX design turned out to be exactly the right area for me.
And poof - here I am almost three years later, graduating in june 2025!

Throughout my studies, we have carried out a design process in almost every course, making me highly familiar with working according to the double diamond framework. I am also well-versed in the PACT framework. Additionally, we have worked with agile project management principles and explored Scrum.
The most valuable insights I take with me are the importance of a well-executed market analysis and the necessity of understanding the user context. User research is one of my favorite aspects of the design process, along with diving deep into research articles. Another fact I have realised is that generating creative ideas is much easier in collaboration than alone. Strong teamwork significantly increases the chances of a successful final outcome!
Another recurring theme throughout my studies has been design in relation to sustainable development and the responsibility we have as designers to consider this in our work. This is a topic that is important to me and one that I have explored extensively in the literature.Don't hesitate to reach out if you think I'm the right person for your workplace!
