On behalf of Eskilstuna Kommun, we were tasked with developing a concept to encourage residents to engage with and return to the city center. Like many other cities in Sweden, Eskilstuna has been significantly affected by the so-called "city center decline," and the municipality was seeking ideas on how to attract more visitors to the area.
Our proposal focused on creating decorations, artwork, and embellishments using recycled materials, adapting the city center’s aesthetic to reflect the changing seasons. Additionally, we suggested celebrating holidays from various cultures, as Eskilstuna is home to a diverse population from around the world. This could include food festivals and public celebrations of different cultural traditions.
The decorations could be crafted collaboratively by the city’s residents, including schools, preschools, and community programs for individuals without regular employment. All relevant information would be gathered and presented in a dedicated mobile application.
The visualizations of our ideas were created in Adobe Photoshop, while the poster was designed in Adobe InDesign. The app ideas were developed in Adobe XD.
